Gravely Zero Turn Battery

Gravely builds zero turns for homeowners and crews alike, from the ZT X and ZT XL to the ZT HD and the commercial Pro-Turn line, and each one starts on a single 12-volt battery. A Gravely zero turn battery in lithium cranks harder than lead-acid, weighs a fraction as much, and holds its charge through the off-season.

Gravely Mower Battery

AriensCo, Gravely’s parent company, lists one 12-volt battery, part 04738800 (now superseded by 30314500), for select ZT, ZT X, ZT XL, ZT HD and Pro-Turn models, and the replacements sold for those mowers are Group U1. If your old battery reads U1 or U1R, or measures about 7.7 x 5.2 x 7.2 inches, the Group U1 lithium batteries on this page fit. Match the terminal side: a U1 has the positive on the left, a U1R on the right, facing the posts.

Model years vary, and a few machines run a smaller battery, so check the label before you order, or call 888-274-7544 with the model number from the plate under the seat. For off-season charging, any 12V charger with a lithium mode works, like the 12V lawn mower battery charger we carry.

Gravely Zero Turn Battery FAQ

What size battery does a Gravely zero turn take?+

A 12-volt battery in the Group U1 size on most models. AriensCo lists part 04738800 (now 30314500) for select ZT, ZT X, ZT XL, ZT HD and Pro-Turn mowers, and the replacements sold for them are Group U1. Check the label on your old battery to be sure.

Is a lithium battery worth it on a Gravely?+

On a mower that sits between cuts, yes. Lithium holds its charge for months, cranks harder than lead-acid at the same size and weighs a fraction as much. A lead-acid battery that sits flat over a winter is usually ruined by spring.

What does U1 mean on a mower battery?+

U1 is the Battery Council International group size, a 12-volt case about 7.7 x 5.2 x 7.2 inches. U1R is the same case with the terminals reversed: facing the posts, the positive is on the left on a U1 and on the right on a U1R.
