ATV Battery Charger
A winch pull or a long idle with the lights on can leave a quad’s battery flat, and a lithium ATV battery should come back on a lithium charger. An ATV battery charger for LiFePO4 is a small clip-on 12V unit: a few amps at the voltage lithium wants, sized to a powersports battery, plugged into any household outlet.

Charging a Lithium Four Wheeler Battery
A lithium ATV battery charges on a lithium profile: 14.4 volts, then stop. Clip the Dakota 12V 3A on at the end of the day and a flat 25Ah battery is full in about 8 hours. Before the quad sits for the winter, bring the battery to full and store it somewhere above freezing; LiFePO4 loses only a few percent a month, so it starts in spring without a tender hanging on it. Need the battery too? See our lithium ATV batteries.
ATV Battery Charger FAQ
Can I use a car battery charger on a lithium ATV battery?+-
Not a lead-acid one. Most car chargers use lead-acid stages and far more current than a small powersports battery wants. Use a charger with a lithium profile sized to the battery, like the Dakota 12V 3A for batteries from 7Ah to 25Ah.
How long does a lithium ATV battery take to charge?+-
About the amp hours divided by the charger’s amps. On the 12V 3A, a flat 25Ah battery takes about 8 hours and a 12Ah battery about 4.
Should I charge my ATV battery before winter storage?+-
Yes. Bring it to full, then store it somewhere above freezing. LiFePO4 loses only a few percent of charge a month, so it will still be ready in spring.
