Dirt Bike Battery
A dirt bike battery has the smallest job on the bike and the least room for error: spin a high-compression single on the first push, again after the stall on the hill, and again at the truck when the key was left on. Our lithium dirt bike battery picks are sealed LiFePO4 starters for electric-start motocross, enduro and trail four-strokes that weigh about a pound, hold their charge between rides, and carry a built-in jump for the day you need one.

What a Dirt Bike Battery Actually Has to Do
A modern electric-start four-stroke asks a lot of a very small battery. The starter has to turn over a high-compression single, sometimes three or four times in a row after a stall, and the bike’s stator puts back very little at idle, so the battery lives on its reserve more than a street bike’s ever does. Lead-acid handles that badly: it sulfates in the weeks between rides, fades as it drains, and the YTZ7-size brick weighs close to five pounds, carried high behind the engine. A lithium battery for dirt bike duty fixes all three. The LiFePO4 pack we carry weighs 1.3 lb in the same case, holds its charge through the off-season, and cranks at full strength on the last stall of the day, not just the first.
Two habits keep it happy. Charge it with a lithium-profile charger or maintainer, never a lead-acid charger with a desulfation mode, and on an older machine keep an eye on the regulator, because a tired rectifier that lets charging voltage climb past about 15V is hard on any lithium pack. On a cold morning, key on for thirty seconds before you press the button: the small load wakes the cells and the crank comes in strong. And if you come back to the truck and the key was left on, the RE-START button on the Antigravity packs reconnects a held-back reserve and gets the bike running, no jumper pack needed.
The fit test is simple. If the bike has a starter button, it needs a battery and this page is for you; a kick-only bike usually runs its lights straight off the stator and needs nothing here. Match the case first. The YTZ7 (sold as YTZ7S or YTZ7-BS on a lead-acid label) is the workhorse size on electric-start motocross and enduro four-strokes, and the Antigravity pack we carry also lists the smaller YTZ5S, YTX4L and YTX5L trays as direct replacements, so most electric-start singles are covered by one battery. Dirt Bike Battery FAQ
Will a lithium dirt bike battery fit my bike?+-
Match the case first. The YTZ7 case (YTZ7S or YTZ7-BS on a lead-acid label) is the common size on electric-start motocross and enduro four-strokes, and the Antigravity ATZ-7 also lists the YTZ5S, YTX4L-BS and YTX5L-BS trays as direct replacements. Call us at 888-274-7544 with the year, make and model and we will confirm the fit in a minute.
What does RE-START do on a dirt bike battery?+-
If the battery is drained by a key left on or lights left running, the RE-START pack shuts itself off before it is fully flat and holds back a starting reserve. Press the button on top and it reconnects that reserve so the bike starts, no jumper pack and no push start down the fire road.
Can I charge a lithium dirt bike battery with my old tender?+-
Only if it has a lithium mode. The desulfation pulses built for lead-acid are bad medicine for lithium cells, so use a charger or maintainer with an explicit lithium profile, and keep the bike’s charging voltage under about 15V.
Does a lithium dirt bike battery crank in the cold?+-
Yes, with one habit: key on for about 30 seconds before you press the starter, so the small load wakes the cells, then crank. After that brief warm-up the pack delivers full amps even on cold mornings. Standard packs do not take a charge below freezing, so if the bike winters in an unheated shed, bring the battery inside.
Do I need a battery if my dirt bike is kick-start only?+-
Usually not. Kick-only bikes typically run their lighting straight off the stator and have no battery tray at all. This page is for electric-start bikes, and for the kick-start bikes that carry a small battery for lights or an aftermarket starter kit.
