The Honda VT1100T Shadow ACE Tourer takes the ATX12 case. The Antigravity ATX12 RE-START is a drop-in for that case: 360 cranking amps, 3 lb, a built-in jump start that saves enough charge to get you home.

What the VT1100T Shadow ACE Tourer needs, in plain English

Every VT1100T Shadow ACE Tourer from the first 2001 model through 2001 starts on the ATX12 case, a 12-volt starter battery. Honda ships it with a lead-acid battery that starts to fade after two or three seasons of short rides and off-season storage, and that is usually the day a rider goes looking for something better.

The lithium drop-in is the Antigravity ATX12 RE-START: 360 cranking amps, 3 pounds, the same case in lithium. Its RE-START function puts the battery to sleep before a parasitic draw can drain it, then wakes it with one press for a jump start. Charge it with a lithium-compatible charger or maintainer for the off-season and it outlasts the lead-acid battery it replaces by years.

What size battery does a Honda VT1100T Shadow ACE Tourer take?+
The ATX12 case, the same one on every VT1100T Shadow ACE Tourer from 2001 to 2001. The Antigravity ATX12 RE-START is the lithium drop-in for it.
Will a lithium battery work in a VT1100T Shadow ACE Tourer without changes?+
Yes, on a bike with a healthy charging system: the lithium battery uses the same case, the same posts and the same cables, and it drops in where the lead-acid battery sat. Bikes older than about 2000 should have their voltage regulator and rectifier checked first, since a failing one overcharges any battery and lithium tolerates it less. Fill any gap in the tray with the foam spacers most lithium motorcycle batteries include.
Do I need a different charger for a lithium motorcycle battery?+
Use a charger or maintainer with a lithium (LiFePO4) mode. A lead-acid trickle charger can push the wrong voltage profile, and a desulfation mode can damage a lithium pack. A lithium-profile maintainer over the off-season keeps it topped without harm, and the battery loses only a few percent of charge a month sitting on its own.
