The Kawasaki JS650 SX takes the YTX20HL-PW case. The Antigravity ATX20 RE-START is a drop-in for that case: 680 cranking amps, 4 lb, a built-in jump start that saves enough charge to get you home.

What the JS650 SX needs, in plain English

Every JS650 SX from the first 1987 model through 1995 starts on the YTX20HL-PW case, a 12-volt starter battery. Kawasaki ships it with a lead-acid battery that starts to fade after two or three seasons of short rides and off-season storage, and that is usually the day a rider goes looking for something better.

The lithium drop-in is the Antigravity ATX20 RE-START: 680 cranking amps, 4 pounds, the same case in lithium. Its RE-START function puts the battery to sleep before a parasitic draw can drain it, then wakes it with one press for a jump start. Charge it with a lithium-compatible charger or maintainer for the off-season and it outlasts the lead-acid battery it replaces by years.

What size battery does a Kawasaki JS650 SX take?+
The YTX20HL-PW case, the same one on every JS650 SX from 1987 to 1995. The Antigravity ATX20 RE-START is the lithium drop-in for it.
Will a lithium battery work in a JS650 SX without changes?+
Yes, on a ski with a healthy charging system: the lithium battery uses the same case, the same posts and the same cables, and it drops in where the lead-acid battery sat. Check that the stator and regulator hold a steady charge, fill any gap in the tray with the foam spacers most lithium jet ski batteries include, and match the terminal layout of the battery you are replacing.
Do I need a different charger for a lithium jet ski battery?+
Use a charger or maintainer with a lithium (LiFePO4) mode. A lead-acid trickle charger can push the wrong voltage profile, and a desulfation mode can damage a lithium pack. A lithium-profile maintainer over the off-season keeps it topped without harm, and the battery loses only a few percent of charge a month sitting on its own.
