The Yamaha Bear Tracker 250 takes the YTX14AH-BS case. The Antigravity ATX12-AH RE-START is a drop-in for that case: 360 cranking amps, 3 lb, a built-in jump start that saves enough charge to get you home.

What the Bear Tracker 250 needs, in plain English

Every Bear Tracker 250 from the first 2000 model through 2004 starts on the YTX14AH-BS case, a 12-volt starter battery. Yamaha ships it with a lead-acid battery that starts to fade after two or three seasons of short rides and off-season storage, and that is usually the day a rider goes looking for something better.

The lithium drop-in is the Antigravity ATX12-AH RE-START: 360 cranking amps, 3 pounds, the same case in lithium. Its RE-START function puts the battery to sleep before a parasitic draw can drain it, then wakes it with one press for a jump start. Charge it with a lithium-compatible charger or maintainer for the off-season and it outlasts the lead-acid battery it replaces by years.

What size battery does a Yamaha Bear Tracker 250 take?+
The YTX14AH-BS case, the same one on every Bear Tracker 250 from 2000 to 2004. The Antigravity ATX12-AH RE-START is the lithium drop-in for it.
Will a lithium battery work in a Bear Tracker 250 without changes?+
Yes, on a machine with a healthy charging system: the lithium battery uses the same case, the same posts and the same cables, and it drops in where the lead-acid battery sat. Check that the stator and regulator hold a steady charge, fill any gap in the tray with the foam spacers most lithium ATV batteries include, and match the terminal layout of the battery you are replacing.
Do I need a different charger for a lithium ATV battery?+
Use a charger or maintainer with a lithium (LiFePO4) mode. A lead-acid trickle charger can push the wrong voltage profile, and a desulfation mode can damage a lithium pack. A lithium-profile maintainer over the off-season keeps it topped without harm, and the battery loses only a few percent of charge a month sitting on its own.
